Writing your own groom speech can be a daunting task. Many men find it helpful to have a sample speech to work from. You may use this sample speech as is or you might choose to change certain parts throughout to fit your specific needs.

Here is a totally free sample of a groom’s speech for you to use however you wish.

“Hello everyone, and thank you for coming out today to share this special day with us. On behalf of my wife and myself, I would like to say thank you to every one of you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to be with us on this joyous occasion.

“It means a great deal to us to have everyone we know and love here with us today. Your being here makes the great day even more wonderful. And now, I’d like to take a few moments to thank some very special people who helped make this dream occasion turn out just as we had imagined it would be.

“First I would like to say thank you to ________ (bride’s parents) for giving me your beautiful daughter’s hand, and for helping to make this wedding possible. Thank you for your love, support, and friendship, and for making me a part of your family. Thank you also for raising such a beautiful, intelligent, independent daughter. _______ (bride’s name) is truly a credit to you both and I’m honored to call her my bride.

“I can honestly tell you both that _______’s (bride’s name) happiness is my greatest concern and I promise to make you both proud.

“I would also like to thank my mom and dad for their continued love and support. (Consider telling a story from your youth, here).

“_____ (bride’s name) and I would like to thank both of our mothers for their support and assistance in making today’s event as smooth as possible.

“We’d also like to say thank you to our bridesmaids, _____, _____, and _____ (names). Thank you for everything you’ve done today, and over the last few weeks and months.

“I remember when I first realized that ______ (bride’s name) was the woman I would spend the rest of my life with. (Insert a story about how you met, your first date, or when you proposed).

“Here I am, standing next to my new wife, the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. (Turn and address her as you speak the next words…) ______ (bride’s name), words cannot describe how absolutely stunning you are today. I’m sure everyone here agrees with me on that. Watching you walk down the aisle today, I realized just how truly lucky I am to be your husband.”

After you have completed your groom speech, present a toast to the bridesmaids, and then introduce the best man so that he can come forward and make his speech.

After all the speeches are done, give out any gifts you have for the bridesmaids, best man, and other tokens of thanks to people who played key roles in helping your wedding go over smoothly.
